As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family—forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.

Will Arnett has built a wide-ranging career across TV, film, and podcasts. He co-hosts the hit podcast SmartLess (2020–present) with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, featuring guests like Kamala Harris, George Clooney, and Jennifer Aniston. In collaboration with Bradley Cooper, he co-stars, writes, and produces the feature film Is This Thing On? (2025), premiering as the closing film of the New York Film Festival. He also hosted and produced FOX’s Lego Masters (2020–present) and appears in the SmartLess: On The Road (2023) documentary.
Arnett recently starred in and produced Peacock’s Twisted Metal (2023), serves as executive producer on FOX’s Snake Oil (2023–present), and both stars in and produces Netflix’s Murderville (2022). He first broke out as “Gob” in Arrested Development (2003–2019), earning an Emmy nomination, and later received four more for 30 Rock (2007–2013) as Devon Banks.
His film work includes The Lego Movie (2014), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), Blades of Glory (2007), Semi-Pro (2008), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), Ratatouille (2007), and Teen Titans GO! to the Movies (2018). On TV, he starred in BoJack Horseman (2014–2020), Flaked (2016–2017), The Millers (2013–2015), Up All Night (2011–2012), Running Wilde (2010–2011), and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret (2010–2016).
A longtime voice of GMC Trucks, Arnett also launched his production company, Electric Avenue, producing Flaked (2016–2017), The Gong Show (2017–2018), and Hot Date (2017–2019). He lives in Los Angeles with his three sons.
Laura Dern is a three-time Academy Award nominee who won Best Supporting Actress, as well as SAG and BAFTA awards, for her performance in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story (2019). She is also an Emmy and Golden Globe winner known for her moving and heartfelt performances. Most recently, she stars in Netflix’s Lonely Planet (2024) opposite Liam Hemsworth and will next appear in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly (2025), the Netflix/A24 limited series Forever, Interrupted (2025) with Margaret Qualley, and Searchlight’s Is This Thing On? (2025) with Bradley Cooper and Will Arnett. In 2024, she executive produced and starred in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale (2024), co-starred with Hugh Jackman in The Son (2023), executive produced Hulu’s Tiny Beautiful Things (2023) with Reese Witherspoon, and reprised her iconic role as Ellie Sattler in Jurassic World: Dominion (2022), one of 2022’s top-grossing films. Previously, Dern appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women (2019) and reprised her role as Renata in HBO’s Big Little Lies (2017–2019), earning another Emmy nomination.
In addition to her acting, Dern co-founded Jaywalker Pictures with Jayme Lemons, producing the Emmy-nominated The Way I See It (2020) and the Oscar-winning short If Anything Happens I Love You (2020). Her acclaimed film credits include Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017), Wild (2014), Certain Women (2016), The Master (2012), Blue Velvet (1986), Wild at Heart (1990), Rambling Rose (1991, Oscar nomination), and Jurassic Park (1993). In 2010, Dern and her parents, Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, received the first-ever “Family Star Ceremony” on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and were honored with the Hollywood Legacy Award. She has also served on the Academy’s Board of Governors and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
